About Peak Performance Systems
Identify Limitations. Restore Function. Build Capacity.
I'm Austin Horgan, a personal trainer and manual therapist specializing in mobility, corrective exercise, recovery, and performance optimization. I think about the body the way an engineer thinks about a system: every limitation has a cause, every cause has a fix, and every fix should build toward something bigger than just feeling better for a day.
My approach has been shaped by more than 14 years coaching gymnastics, along with my work in personal training and manual therapy. Over the years I've worked with a wide range of people, from young athletes and gymnasts to active adults in their seventies, and I've learned effective training is never one size fits all.
Gymnastics is where this really started. As a gymnastics coach, most of the focus is on execution: can the athlete do the skill correctly, do they have the coordination to produce it. But I started noticing cases where an athlete wasn't struggling with the skill itself. They couldn't produce enough force in a certain position, or they couldn't access the position needed to execute it at all. That's what drove me to learn more about manual therapy and strength training, so I could solve problems that weren't actually skill issues, they were force issues or mobility issues wearing a skill issue's clothes.
How I Work
I believe the best results come from understanding how your body moves, where limitations exist, and what needs to improve before simply adding more exercise. My process is built around three steps:
Identify Limitations → Restore Function → Build Capacity
During a performance therapy session, I take a systematic look at movement and joint function throughout the body to identify mobility restrictions, imbalances, and anything limiting performance. From there I use manual therapy, joint mobilization, neuromuscular drills, corrective exercise, and targeted strengthening, whichever combination fits what we find, to restore function and rebuild the body's capacity to perform.
A Personalized Approach
One of the most important parts of my coaching philosophy is meeting every client where they are. I like to reverse engineer each client's goals into clear, achievable steps. Whether you want to move without discomfort, improve mobility, return to an activity you love, perform better in your sport, get stronger, or simply stay active as you get older, the process starts by understanding your individual needs.
Rather than chasing short term fixes, my goal is to help you develop better movement, greater tissue capacity, improved strength, and a body that can handle whatever you place on it.
More Than a Workout
Training should be purposeful. Every exercise, mobility drill, and treatment technique should have a reason behind it. My job isn't to make workouts harder, it's to determine what will actually help you move and perform better, then build a progression that gets you there efficiently.
